South Atlanta Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center Ophthalmology Specialty Internship
The South Atlanta Veterinary Emergency and Specialty (SAVES) Center is offering a 12 month ophthalmology specialty internship starting July 9th, 2018. We are located in Fayetteville, Ga next to Peachtree City about 20 minutes south of Atlanta, Georgia.
This is a busy multi-specialty practice with 24 hour emergency/critical care. You will be working under the direct supervision of two board certified veterinary ophthalmologists with the support of an excellent, dedicated, and competent staff. Ophthalmology referral caseload is busy and challenging to include posterior segment (vitreo-retinal) surgery.
The applicant must have completed a general small animal rotating medicine internship program. A Georgia state license will be required. Our goal is to prepare the applicant for the acceptance to an ophthalmology residency program.
Primary duties will be to work under the direct supervision of board certified veterinary ophthalmologists with medical and surgical cases, participation and presentation in grand rounds and CE for RDVM's and daily RDVM and client communications. The intern will be expected, through active mentorship, to be independently competent at several minor ophthalmic surgeries by the completion of the internship. Publication in peer reviewed literature will be encouraged and supported with the goal of one accepted publication by the end of the internship. The ophthalmology intern will also work 1-2 shifts/week in general veterinary emergency duty.
Interested applicants should send CV, two letters of reference and letter of intent to Dr Dan Brogdon at email@example.com. by April 23, 2018.
