MedVet Ophthalmology Specialty Internship

MedVet is offering a 12 month Ophthalmology Specialty Internship Program (7/16/18 - 7/14/19) in medical and surgical comparative veterinary ophthalmology in the Columbus, Ohio location. The applicant must have completed a general rotating internship program prior to the start of this program. The goal of the program is to prepare a candidate for acceptance to an ophthalmology residency training program. In addition to a salary, benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance with flex-save and HSA options. $1500 discretionary funds will also be provided for CE or other professional use during the program.

The Ophthalmology Intern will be under the direct supervision of board certified veterinary ophthalmologist(s), an ophthalmology resident, and dedicated ophthalmology staff.

Expectations include:
-1-2 shifts in general Emergency duty with time off the following day to recover
- assist Ophthalmology Diplomate(s) in daily receiving of outpatient appointments and evaluation of hospitalized patients
-primary Ophthalmology case responsibility receiving urgent outpatient appointments, under supervision of the Diplomate(s)
-rotating weekend Ophthalmology on-call duty, overseeing any hospitalized ophthalmology patients and providing phone and on-site consultation service as needed
-assist technicians with patient care
-answer client and referral partner questions
-participation in ophtho journal club, case review, and histopathology rounds
-participation in hospital-wide weekly Grand Rounds and Tumor Rounds, monthly ECG Rounds
-completion of an intern project and present results at hospital-wide Grand Rounds near the completion of their program.
