Dear Colleagues,
I want to clarify the details for both the Diplomates' and the Residents' Virtual Reality lecture/wet lab for this year's ACVO meeting. The Diplomates' VIRTUAL CATARACT SURGERY COURSE ON SUNDAY is ONLY for Diplomates of the ACVO and ECVO. In past years, many of the ACVO conference Wet Lab courses allowed for non-diplomates to attend if space permitted. This year, the same 'rules' were incorrectly carried over and the impression has been made that non-diplomates could attend. Please know that ONLY ACVO AND ECVO DIPLOMATES or ACVO/ECVO BOARD ELIGIBLE MAY ATTEND THIS COURSE. The goal of this course is not to teach cataract surgery, but to bring the newest techniques, instruments and technology to our colleagues. So, criteria for participating in the Diplomates' Virtual Reality Cataract Surgery course is:
1. A Diplomate of the ACVO/ECVO 2. One who has finished training by an approved ACVO/ECVO residency program and is Board eligible. 3. One who is currently routinely performing cataract surgery. This individual will require a formal recommendation from a Diplomate of the ACVO/ECVO so that they may attend.
The Residents' forum this year has 2 parts. The first is the lecture. All residents and any other veterinarian MAY come to this part OF THE COURSE as we need to PROVIDE this OPTION TO ALLOW FOR ENOUGH CE credits FOR NON-DIPLOMATES.
This is not going to be a "how to phaco 101" type of venue. No one will learn how to do the procedure in these lectures. HOWEVER, the wet lab is ONLY for residents of the ACVO and ECVO. No one else is invited to participate in the wet lab and it is not free which will allow us to monitor the registrants.
Sincerely,
Carmen Colitz, Regent |
