“Glaucoma: New Approaches to an Old Disease”
Description

In this case-based session we will discuss current thoughts on the mechanisms which result in glaucoma in dogs and cats, and cover how a better understanding of these causes allows us to make a well-informed therapeutic choice tailored for each patient.  The session will also discuss when and how to use the plethora of anti-glaucoma drugs that are on the market today.

Biography
Dr Miller is a Clinical Professor of Comparative Ophthalmology and Section Head at the School of Veterinary Medicine , University of Wisconsin.  He is nationally recognized for his work in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of glaucoma.  Other interests include continuing education for graduate veterinarians, the visual capabilities of normal animals, and ocular manifestations of systemic diseases.  He has given over 250 scientific and continuing education presentations, authored more than 65 scientific publications or book chapters, served as the editor for the ophthalmology section of the Five Minute Veterinary Consult and co-editor Doug Slatter’s Fundamentals of Veterinary Ophthalmology textbook, and has co-chaired the ACVO’s Basic Science Course for the Veterinary Ophthalmologist for the last 8 years.  He is also immediate past-president of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists.
