Notice: PhD or Postdoctoral training opportunities at the University of Pennsylvania
(posted 2/6/08)

We have received approval to continue the NIDDK training grant in Gene Therapy for CF and other Genetic Diseases (T32-DK-07748).  [http://www2.niddk.nih.gov/Funding/TrainingCareerDev/T32Supplslot.htm]  Slots are awarded competitively by an internal review committee.  The training program can go up to 5 years for a pre-doc (PhD canddate) and 3 years for a post-doc. As we just started a new 5 year cycle in July 2007, it is a good time for propspective candidates to apply either for the PhD or Post Doctoral Fellowship positions. The work in my laboratory will focus on gene therapy strategies for treating diseases of the retina and/or pigment epithelium in dogs with these inherited conditions.

Awards will be made to individuals holding a DVM/VMD degree, with or without ACVO board certification, and having excellent academic record, and potential for an academic-based research career. As with all NIH training grants, awards are limited to US citizens or green card holders.
