I would like to thank Dr. Bruce Grahn for introducing me to the fascinating and beautiful world of veterinary ophthalmology as a vet student and for encouraging me to pursue an academic career.  I also am grateful to Drs. Sheryl Krohne and Jean Stiles for their mentorship during my internship.  As I reflect upon the three years of my residency in Missouri , I realize I cannot begin to thank my mentors enough; they honestly made my dreams come true by just picking me!  I am so privileged to have had Dr. Kristina Narfstrom as my educator in the field of retinal diseases and electroretinography.  Dr. Cecil Moore has an amazing wealth of knowledge and was a superb, patient teacher.  I appreciated Dr. Laurence Galle’s enthusiasm for photography, outstanding aptitude in the field of PCR and guidance during my MS degree so often during my residency.  Dr. Elizabeth Giuliano taught me her meticulous surgical skills, imparted her exceptional knowledge of scientific writing and somehow knew the right time to challenge and push me, but also when to become a colleague and good friend – this is a true gift.  Finally, I would like to thank Drs. Gia Klauss and Juri Ota for making the last three years entirely fantastic; they are the best resident-mates ever!  I am remaining at University of Missouri-Columbia as a Clinical Assistant Professor: a cage went in search of a bird…..
