{ BASIC SCIENCE COURSE }

{ CREDENTIALS }
The ACVO Credentials Committee exists to authenticate residents as qualified to sit for the ACVO Certifying examination. It's primary responsibility is to review resident's credential applications near the end of or following completions of the ACVO approved residents program. It determines that required documents that must be submitted for an application to qualify for the ACVO membership, including the required number and format of case reports produced from resident training. A Credential Committee member is a three year commitment and begins at a fall Credentials business and case report review training meeting, continuing through three ACVO applications cycles, completing the term following the final case reports review.

{ EXAM }
The ACVO exam is constructed, validated, assembled and administered by the ACVO Examination Committee. The committee consists of 10 Diplomates recommended by the examination committee chairperson and approved by the ACVO Board of Regents. Membership of the ACVO Examination Committee is designed to reflect the general membership of the ACVO with regards gender, number of years as a Diplomate and professional activity (academic vs. practice career). Four-year appointments are given to committee members. It is the examination committee's responsibility to assure the examination questions reflect professional activities expected of Diplomates

{ GOVERNANCE }
The ACVO Governance Committee is composed of 6-7 members appointed from the ACVO membership, including a chair and the ACVO representative to the ABVS. It reviews and oversees proposed changes in the ACVO Constitution and Bylaws as directed by the ACVO Board of Regents. It reviews policies and procedures from the various ACVO standing committees as directed by the ACVO Board or Regents. Then it reports it's findings and makes recommendations to the ACVO Board of Regents.

{ JOURNAL }
Evaluates numerous veterinary medical research submissions from qualified writers for consideration for inclusion in the Journal. Organizes co-sponsors, print, photos and the editing of this Journal six times per year.
 
{ NOMINATING }
Studies leadership needs at the ACVO; coordinates calls for nomination; and develops lists of candidates for election to leadership positions.
 
{ PROGRAM }
Develops continuing education programs for the ACVO. Evaluates papers for presentation, speakers, speaker organization and topics; reviews and promotes policies regarding registration fees, exhibitors, etc.; organizes special education programs such as wet labs at the annual meeting; evaluates continuing education needs of ACVO Diplomates.
   
{ PUBLIC RELATIONS }
Promote the ACVO and it's Members by education the referral veterinarians and pet owners in veterinary ophthalmology and the unique services provided by our membership. 
 
{ RESIDENCY }
The ACVO Residency Committee is responsible for developing the standards for educational program accreditation approval, providing directions to programs seeking accreditation, and granting accreditation to residency programs that satisfy the committee's requirements.  The committee is responsible for certifying that a resident has successfully completed an approved residency program prior to being allowed to sit the certification examination.

Reviews and approves materials to be posted on the site. Handles questions from the public concerning veterinary medicine.
